Spotprotect SMS Text Messages Delayed by Some Carriers

Spotprotect SMS Text Messages Delayed or Blocked by Some Carriers

SpotProtect sends alerts via e-mail or a your cell provider's email-to-sms gateway.  The gateway then forwarded by the carrier as a text message.  It has come to our attention that carriers have begun throttling, delaying or even blocking these email-to-sms messages beyond the control of SpotProtect.  While this is beyond our direct control, we can advise the following:

  1. Contact the carrier about the degraded service since they are blocking the messages
  2. Use the iOs or Android app with push notifications (coming August 2024 see below)
  3. Use email delivery instead
  4. Use a 3rd party email to SMS gateway
  5. Use a 3rd party email to push gateway like Pushover (https://pushover.net/)
  6. Use our optional paid direct-to-SMS priority delivery add-on which was developed to address the issue for those in need.  This service bypasses the carrier's email gateway and sends messages direct to SMS text messaging.  This service is set up as a credit system whereby credits can be purchased to send these priority messages.

The Spotprotect WiFi sensors (except switchspot V2), use the Monnit cloud service.

To activate the app on your device, visit the link below FROM YOUR IOS/ANDROID DEVICE:

Note:  The direct-to-sms service and apps are  not available for SwitchSpot V2 at this time.
